Annual Competitions

National competitions for talented young individuals between the ages of 18-25 are produced in Art, Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre, Music, Voice and Literature to help further develop creative talent.

NSAL chapters around the country produce one nationally sanctioned local competition that is held prior to the NSAL Annual Meeting hosted by a different chapter, typically in May/June of each year. The competition discipline rotates each year and is determined by the national organization.

The chapter first place winner receives $2,000 and an all-expense paid trip to compete in the National Competition against contestants from across the U.S. for a chance to win a $12,000 prize. The second place chapter winner receives $1,000 and the third place winner receives $750.

In 2017, the Florida East Coast Chapter played host to the 2017 Annual Meeting and EN POINTE: Classical Ballet Competition from May 29 – June 3.

In 2018, the NSAL Annual Meeting and National Woodwinds Competition will take place in Chautauqua, New York from May 21 - 27. For more information about the annual meeting, visit www.arts.nsal.org.
